A GRIP assignment starts with commitment.

Before GRIP starts, we establish whether the conditions for progress are in place: a conversation with the sponsor, the right people at the table and a clear assignment.

1. The sponsor owns the outcome.

The assignment comes from someone who is accountable for the situation and can enable decisions: a CEO, CFO, regional COO or owner.

2. A situation needs to change.

The assignment sets out the intended outcome and a willingness to act. The assessment supports the decision about how to get there.

3. There is a willingness to act.

The commitment to implementation is clarified before the start. This prevents an assignment whose findings lead nowhere.

Agree together

If the conditions are missing, there is no GRIP assignment. A deliberate conclusion after the assessment remains possible.
